Much to some customers surprise, granite is not indestructible. It can chip, crack and stain. A common area to crack is at the front edge by the sink. This area gets a lot of use and tends to be weak due to it’s width. See the picture below.
You can also see the seam in this picture, which has held up well. Often times those open up and need repair. Unfortunately granite doesn’t repair as unnoticeable as Corian. In this instance I filled the crack with a close as possible color matched epoxy. It’s not invisible but it will prevent water from getting in there and ruining their cabinet.
